In a move aimed at driving up industry standards, William G Search Ltd, the plant hire specialist, is due to become the only CORGI-registered company in its field to ensure that all its LPG and butane engineers are fully qualified and certified. The company began its CITB training programme some four years ago.
Andrew Collings, Group Hire Operations Manager, explained: ¡§This is a major investment in health and safety. Too many cabins currently available for hire are defective and are potentially dangerous to users. We believe it is crucially important that our engineers are all fully qualified.
¡§We are also convinced that our customers want the assurance of knowing that their gas supplies have been connected and maintained by fully-qualified tradesmen. Workmen have been killed in the past because of poorly ventilated cabins, so it is essential that we make sure that there is an adequate flow of air.¡¨
Search has more than 100 cabins that use gas lighting and heating.
