BBC TV sports presenter Steve Rider¡¦s famous golf buggy will be accompanying him to a Ryder Cup competition in the USA for the first time this year.
The familiar buggy, designed by Leeds hire firm William G Search, has already crossed the Atlantic to Oakland Hills, Michigan where the event is being held next weekend (17-19 September). It will return to the UK in time for the HSBC World Matchplay Championship at Wentworth in October.
The vehicle has been specially adapted by Search to provide a mobile broadcast facility during its golf coverage. Panels extend out from the main floorplan to enable face-to-face interviews whilst on-board TV monitors keep the BBC team up to date with real-time changes to the leaderboard.
The buggy recently received a facelift at Search¡¦s workshop on Whitehall Road, Leeds, and will be appearing at the Ryder Cup in its new black livery.
