Leeds-based power solutions provider William G Search Ltd has become one of the first suppliers in the UK to take Lister-Petterˇ¦s latest gas gensets.
Search, which has its own team of CORGI-registered engineers, has installed Lister-Petterˇ¦s LLG185N models to act as standby power units for two local companies ˇV Streamline Taxis and NG Bailey & Co.
Private hire firm Streamline Taxis will use the new unit to provide standby power for day-to-day operations as well as its garage facilities, whilst the other unit has been installed on behalf of engineering contractors, N G Bailey & Co.
Eddie Whitham, Power Products Divisional Manager at Search, explained that whilst it was common practice for many firms to install standby power units, the use of gas gensets was more unusual.
ˇ§Recent concern over the reliability of electricity supply, including a number of high profile failures around the world, has led to growing interest in gas power,ˇ¨ he said. ˇ§Gas is clean burning and provides smooth, quiet power when it is needed.ˇ¨
Mr Whitham added that he expects this trend to continue: ˇ§One big advantage is that natural gas is easily available from the existing supply network. There is no need for a separate fuel store, and therefore no need for users to apply for a secondary fuel storage licence.ˇ¨
