William G Search Ltd, the Leeds-based compressed air provider, is helping Newcastle Airport Fire Service remain at the highest state of readiness by supplying a new breathing air compressor.
The new compressor will be used to recharge breathing apparatus air cylinders and replaces the old unit that had come to the end of its useful life.
Search had been servicing the old compressor for some time before the decision was made to replace it. The Fire Service selected the new system on the basis of Search¡¦s existing service and its overall price compared to other suppliers.
Phil Dodd, responsible for breathing apparatus at Newcastle Airport Fire Service, said: ¡§We use air cylinders on a daily basis for training exercises so we need a system that¡¦s efficient and reliable. The new compressor enables us to recharge cylinders on site rather than relying on the Local Authority Fire Brigade.¡¨
Peter Schofield, Search Compressed Air Divisional Manager, added: ¡§We have developed a good understanding of the fire team¡¦s needs after ten years working together. Reliability is clearly a key issue for such an important application and the new system has been performing well.¡¨
