William G Search Ltd, the Leeds-based plant hire company, is capitalising on the Government’s recently-announced £2 billion road improvement programme with the purchase of an extra three towed rollers. From its 5 depots Search now operates one of the largest fleets of towed rollers in the UK.
The six-tonne rollers have been bought as part of Search’s £750,000 capital investment programme for 2002/03. They are available for hire – along with a full range of other plant and equipment – to contractors carrying out the road improvement programme across the country.
Andrew Collings, the firm’s Group Hire Operations Manager, said: “We have been gearing up for this spending on Britain’s roads since the Government unveiled its 10-year transport plan in 2000. Our commitment to investing in our fleet of contract plant and equipment puts us in a very strong position to benefit from this spending and play a part in improving Britain’s road infrastructure.”
The Government’s spending programme involves widening and improving motorways and A-roads in the North, East Midlands and South West including the M1, M6, A1 and A303 near Stonehenge.
